     This week’s news items are not very happy, but they are hopeful, in a sense.  CESJ is still here, the Just Third Way of Economic Personalism is still being advanced, and the Initiative on Economic Personalism is still in the process of getting organized.  Perhaps it won’t be long before the Economic Democracy Act is adopted:

The Initiative on Economic Personalism is in the process of getting organized and progress is being made, although nothing that can yet be reported except to say it is going well.  As for the rest of the world, it appears that the need to adopt the Economic Democracy Act as soon as possible becomes more critical by the minute:

Some new ideas this week . . . at least, new to recent events or dressed up in semi-new clothes.  The more we get “into” the Just Third Way of Economic Personalism, the more frustrating it seems to become that so many people in positions of influence don’t seem to “get” it.  In any event, it would help assuage our feelings of frustration if those who could would adopt the Economic Democracy Act as soon as possible:

This week’s news items continue their spiral downwards into surrealism.  We are not saying that adopting the Economic Democracy Act: would solve all the world’s problems, or that it might give us a few we haven’t either seen or even thought of, but it certainly couldn’t be any worse than what is going on now under the current system:

According to AI (bow), the Number One economic news item this past week was the 100,000 difference in the anticipated increase and the actual loss.  Number Two was the decline in the trade deficit . . . not because the U.S. is exporting more, but because it is importing less (at a higher price . . .).  Number Three was the rising fuel cost due to the war in Iran.  These and other items make us wonder how long it is going to be before we adopt the Economic Democracy Act:

The economic picture this week is as confusing as everything else . . . and if you’re not confused, you should be.  As usual, however, we believe that the sooner we adopt the Economic Democracy Act, the better things might start getting.  In the meantime:

Believe it or not, there is some good news this week.  Progress is being made in introducing people to the Just Third Way of Economic Personalism — which has the ultimate goal of the enactment of the Economic Democracy Act.  As our first news item, an interview that was only supposed to take an hour, went to an hour and a half . . . and CESJ was invited back as regular guests!  As for the rest:

Some interesting news items this week, although not interesting enough . . . which would be the case if we could get the Economic Democracy Act adopted.  Instead, what we have is a lot of the same old thing:

We were rather hoping to have something to celebrate the 250^th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence . . . which wasn’t completed on July 4, 1776, by the way . . . but the Economic Democracy Act hasn’t been adopted yet.  That being the case, we’ll have to be satisfied with some of the usual:

In this week’s news notes, we go from the less than sublime to the more than ridiculous.  We will only allude to the SpaceX IPO in the first news item, but the rest of the gleanings from this week aren’t much better, at least from the standpoint of human dignity.  The only real question is when the powers-that-be are going to get their collective acts together and push for adoption of the Economic Democracy Act:

    At this turning point in history — as if all points in history weren’t turning points of one kind or another — there seems to be increasing emphasis on form over substance, and even the few who focus on substance don’t know what to do except change the form in many cases, cross their fingers (and eyes) and hope for the best.  Of course, if people were really interested in substantial change and improvements, they would push for adoption of the Economic Democracy Act:

The big Just Third Way news this week is the meeting in Rome of two long-time CESJ members and supporters — and we have pictures!  This might not seem Earth-shaking, but the fact that people are still fighting for justice in this world ought to get a little recognition, and might ignite a few more people with imagination to start pushing for the Economic Democracy Act:

The good news this week is that Pope Leo XIV’s new encyclical, “Magnifica Humanitas,” has definitely been scheduled for release on Monday, May 25, 2026.  A follow-up to Pope Leo XIII’s 1891 encyclical Rerum Novarum, we expect Magnifica Humanitas to be intended as a springboard for the program the previous Pope Leo proposed, but — we’re assuming — will not address the critical expanded capital ownership issue.

News from the Network, Vol. 19, No. 20

With the signing of Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical scheduled for today, there is the potential for the dawning of a new day for economic and social justice — and we intend to do what we can.  CESJ is not a Catholic or even a religious organization, and the Just Third Way is not a religious movement, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take full advantage of the efforts of a global leader to bring some sanity and commonsense to the world . . . and (eventually) result in the adoption of the Economic Democracy Act:
