News from the Network, Vol. 19, No. 34

To be honest, we can figure out the rationale behind much of what passes for the economic news this week, except from the perspective of the Just Third Way of Economic Personalism and its application in the Economic Democracy Act:

Attack of the Randroids

One of the problems with the social media — or advantages, if you will — is it gives a lot of people who would otherwise be silenced by chance, circumstance, or design the opportunity to sound off on whatever subject floats their respective boats.  Recently, we came across a YouTube production by a vlogger who specializes in advice to readers.  The subject was the worst books she had ever read.

JTW Podcast: America Needs the “Just Third Way” in our Economy!

This week’s podcast is an episode of The Front Line with Joe & Joe featuring Dawn K. Brohawn and Michael D. Greaney from CESJ.  As the description of the show has it, “Welcome to Joe & Joe — two guys at the kitchen table from New Jersey bringing you bold Catholic commentary, faithful discussion, and honest conversations about the issues shaping our world today.

News from the Network, Vol. 19, No. 33

This week’s news items continue their spiral downwards into surrealism.  We are not saying that adopting the Economic Democracy Act: would solve all the world’s problems, or that it might give us a few we haven’t either seen or even thought of, but it certainly couldn’t be any worse than what is going on now under the current system:

Peter S. Grosscup versus the Rough Rider

In the previous posting on this subject, we noted that Presbyterian Judge Peter S. Grosscup was very closely focused on a key aspect of Catholic social teaching which Catholic Father John A. Zahm seems to have ignored, even as the latter personally met with Pope Leo XIII regarding Rerum Novarum: the importance of private property in Catholic social thought.

JTW Podcast: The Great Ideas IV, The Forms of Government

This week’s podcast is the fourth episode in Mortimer Adler’s television show, The Great Ideas and is a follow-up on “The Powers of Government” which we had a couple of weeks ago.  As described in the YouTube blurb, “In his concluding discussion of government, Dr. Mortimer Adler sums up past discussions and deals with the forms of government. In this lecture he emphasizes the difference between despotism and constitutional government.”

News from the Network, Vol. 19, No. 32

According to AI (bow), the Number One economic news item this past week was the 100,000 difference in the anticipated increase and the actual loss.  Number Two was the decline in the trade deficit . . . not because the U.S. is exporting more, but because it is importing less (at a higher price . . .).  Number Three was the rising fuel cost due to the war in Iran.  These and other items make us wonder how long it is going to be before we adopt the Economic Democracy Act:

Progressivism and Connections

This is what happens when you open a can of worms.  We have been working for several years on a series of books tracing the origin of socialism, modernism, and the New Age, the reactions to these res novae or “New Things,” and explaining why our “Just Third Way of Economic Personalism” is the best response and counter to these anti-human “New Things.”

JTW Podcast: Economic Personalism

Although the blurb for this podcast says, “Join Dr. Robert Moynihan for this live stream with Michael Greaney and Dawn Brohawn, authors of Economic Personalism: Property, Power and Justice for Every Person,” there is a lot more than advertised in the program, but evidently a lot less, too, since Greaney and Brohawn have been invited back for future podcasts.
