JTW Podcast: The Dangerous Rise of Anti-Intellectualism

“Professor Dave” misstates the genuine religious position.  It is, for example, an “infallible teaching” of the Catholic Church that (and we quote), “absolutely speaking, human reason by its own natural force and light can arrive at a true and certain knowledge of the one personal God, Who by His providence watches over and governs the world, and also of the natural law, which the Creator has written in our hearts” (Humani Generis, § 2).

That being said, there is otherwise a great deal in what he says.  Still, in this podcast “Professor Dave” is complaining about is the misuse of religion by ideologues, not real religion.  As he says, “In a recent video I reviewed a Piers Morgan segment that I was initially asked to participate in. It's all about people like Terrence Howard, Candace Owens, and the anti-science/anti-intellectual/anti-establishment fervor that they elicit from the general public. After my commentary on what everyone said on the panel, I closed the video with a short essay that nicely summarizes some of my thoughts on this enormous, potentially apocalyptic problem. Many asked that I upload it separately for ease of sharing. That's this. Please spread this far and wide, maybe it will help!”:
