The Summer Slow Down has not hit the Just Third Way. The CESJ Fellow from Belgium has been working
very productively, contacts are being made, and outreach efforts are
increasing. Last week’s press release
about the naming of Father John Trigilio and Deacon Joseph Gorini to the CESJ
Board of Counselors was picked up by a number of media outlets, while other
potential contacts and alliances are being surfaced all the time:
• The CESJ core group will be traveling to Cleveland, Ohio,
next week to meet with officials of a foundation to discuss Justice University
and other projects. While in Cleveland,
the CESJ core group will also meet with civic, religious, and academic leaders
who are interested in the Just Third Way.
• CESJ’s Fellow from
Belgium has completed the first draft of a 90-second video to introduce the
Just Third Way and, hopefully, lead people to investigate the concept in
greater depth.
• The first draft of
the revision of Curing World Poverty,
the first edition of which was published in 1994, is nearly complete. All that remains to finish this phase of the
project is to complete the rewrite of “Charity or Justice: Where is the Hope of
the Poor?” and the first draft of “Monetary Stability and the Elimination of
Poverty.” The next step will be to offer
authors of the articles the chance to make any necessary revisions from the
1994 edition.
• The final review of
CESJ’s upcoming “paradigm paper,” The
Political Animal, should be completed by the end of August and submitted to
the printer by that time.
• CESJ’s Director of
Research has been invited to submit short pieces to Deacon
Joseph Gorini’s Light and Heat Ministries website. This is a religiously oriented website, but
the contributions will focus primarily on CESJ’s Just Third Way, a natural
law-based approach to economic and social justice that, while it is compatible
with faith-based doctrine, is not based on it.
• As of this morning, we have had
visitors from 45 different countries and 46 states and provinces in the United
States and Canada to this blog over the past two months. Most visitors are from
the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the Philippines.
The most popular postings this past week were “The Purpose of Production,” “Church,
State, and Humanity, III: A Fundamental Change in the Idea of the State,”
“Church, State, and Humanity, IV: A Fundamental Change in the Idea of
Religion,” “The Ex-Im Bank Bafflement, I: What IS It?” and “News from the
Network, Vol. 7, No. 30” (last week’s press release about Father Trigilio and
Deacon Gorini joining the CESJ Board of Counselors.)
Those are the happenings for this week, at least that we
know about. If you have an
