Dear Mr. Walker:

As a fellow CPA, I share your concerns about the unsustainable direction that this country has been taking, financially, economically, and politically. As Director of Research for the Center for Economic and Social Justice, however, I am not writing simply to commiserate, but to offer a potential resource for you in the form of the programs and proposals of our organization.

I believe that you are already familiar in some measure with our approach, as it is based on the "binary economics" of Louis O. Kelso, described in the two books Kelso co-authored with the eminent Aristotelian-Thomist philosopher Dr. Mortimer J. Adler, The Capitalist Manifesto (1958) and The New Capitalists: A Proposal to Free Economic Growth from the Slavery of Savings (1961). You also had a meeting with Kelso and his one-time Washington Counsel, Norman G. Kurland and expressed support for Kelso's ideas. To refresh your recollection, the systems logic of Kelso's post-Keynesian paradigm is described on our web site in "Binary Economics in a Nutshell."

While Kelso passed away some years ago, Norman Kurland is currently president of CESJ, and has continued to promote Kelso's work and develop new applications of Kelso's ideas. These new applications can be found on the CESJ web site, www.cesj.org. Among those "big picture" structural reforms that you should find most applicable to restoring sustainable non-inflationary market-based growth are:

The Capital Homestead Act.

The Just Third Way: How We Can Create Green Growth, Widespread Prosperity and Global Peace

The Homeowners' Equity Corporation: A Vehicle for Addressing the Subprime Mortgage Crisis.

The Community Investment Corporation

As you are here in town, it would be very easy to arrange a mutually-advantageous meeting between you and Norm Kurland, which (in light of recent events) should take place at your earliest convenience. If a member of your staff would give Norm a call at (703) 243-5155, or send an e-mail to thirdway@cesj.org, and we will set up a time to meet.
